Shawn Newton is a retired federal agent from the Department of Homeland Security.
In March of 1998 Shawn Newton was one of the founding members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. While assigned to the ICAC/Law Enforcement Against Child Harm (LEACH) task force Shawn Newton conducted and participated in hundreds of computer related investigations including but not limited to child pornography, commercial fraud, money laundering, narcotics smuggling and foreign public corruption cases.
In February of 2000 Shawn Newton was selected to attend the US Treasury Department, Computer Investigative Specialist 2000 (CIS2000) training program. This program was comprised of criminal investigators from four of the US Treasury Department law enforcement agencies including the U S Customs Service, US Secret Service (USSS), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF). CIS2000 is a very intensive computer evidence recovery course that instructs the candidates in the field of computer forensics. Shawn Newton utilizes EnCase and Access Data forensic software to conduct forensic exams.
From February 2000 to the present Shawn Newton, was one of the individuals that performed all of the computer forensic exams for the LEACH Task Force. To date Shawn Newton has performed over 500 computer, and related media, forensic exams that have resulted in criminal prosecutions and civil litigation cases. Shawn Newton, as a computer investigative specialist, conducted numerous computer forensic exams for numerous foreign governments of Central and South American countries through his position with the US Customs Service which resulted in the arrest and conviction of the former President of Nicaragua, Arnaldo Aleman. These exams have resulted in the indictment and ongoing plea negotiations of some Fortune 500 corporations located in the United States and abroad.
Prior to retirement, Shawn was the Acting Group Supervisor of the High Tech Crime Unit in the SAC Miami area. Shawn was responsible for conducting Internet investigations on a worldwide scale and conducting computer forensic exams for the newly formed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and for numerous other federal and state agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) Shawn Newton has testified numerous times in state and federal courts and is accepted as a digital evidence recovery expert in the Southern District of Florida (federal) and the State of Florida courts.
Due to health reasons, Shawn is no longer capable of providing his experts services but his wisdom and industry connections continue to grow our company.
